Mechanical Piping Engineer

Overview:
At HIPP Design + Consulting, Mechanical Engineers design mechanical systems and utilities for industrial facilities and specialize in the design of HVAC, piping, plumbing, and fire protection systems for pharmaceutical and biotechnology plants from conceptual to detailed design.
Responsibilities + Tasks:
Responsibilities and tasks include, but are not limited to the following:
• Estimating heating and cooling load requirements for HVAC systems
• Calculating external static pressure for HVAC systems
• Preparing HVAC zoning, pressurization, and air flow diagrams.
• Preparing ductwork layouts, details, and elevations
• Sizing and selecting equipment
• Performing mechanical utility calculations and establishing requirements
• Gathering preliminary cut sheets and vendor quotes for new generation equipment
• Preparing general arrangement drawings
• Preparing construction and equipment specifications
• Preparing piping P&IDs layouts, details, isometrics, and elevations
• Reviewing fire protection requirements
• Calculating hydronic piping pressure drops and sizing pumping systems
• Performing plumbing fixture load calculations
• Determining plumbing requirements
• Provide onsite client support as needed
Qualifications:
• College degree or equivalent experience
• F.E. certification preferred
• 5-10 years of design firm experience
• Up to 5 years of CAD and/or Revit exposure preferred
• Intermediate proficiency in Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
