HIPP’s marketing niche is the small- to medium-sized engineering project work (i.e., design projects up to $25M in construction costs) of our clients. Our goal is to establish strong relationships with our clients by providing high quality designs and excellent customer service at a value expected by them. We become an extension of their in-house engineering staff, working side by side when problems arise or priorities change.

We routinely ask for customer feedback, both formally and informally. This provides us with a simple means of staying focused on what is important to the client. Achieving client satisfaction is the first step in being asked to do other project work. Work and referrals from repeat clients are cornerstones of our business plan. Our relationship-based successes have widened our client base which now extends beyond North Carolina to include Virginia, South Carolina, and Texas. 

PROJECT APPROACH

Upon notification of project award, HIPP facilitates a kick-off meeting that includes discipline leads and key client stakeholders. At this meeting, project scope, schedule, assumptions/clarifications, and deliverables are confirmed. 

At HIPP, the first client deliverable is always a Basis of Design (BOD). By defining all relevant design criteria and discipline-specific project scopes, the BOD gives the client a clear picture of how HIPP plans to approach the assignment. The BOD is the first of several circuit breakers built into our design approach to ensure that scope, schedule, and budget remain in alignment with client expectations.

Upon approval of the BOD, the project moves from preliminary through detailed design engineering phases. The client typically reviews drawing progress at the 30%, 60% and 90% milestones. A 48-hour cool-down period is scheduled before each client deliverable submission to allow for quality review of project elements.
