Project: USP Water Upgrade

Scope: Upgrade existing USP water generation and distribution systems to meet current demands for new products, reduce maintenance costs, and ensure reliable, consistent USP water quality.

Client: EISAI, INC. - Research Triangle Park, NC 

Project: Central Utilities Building (C.U.B.)

Estimated Construction Cost: $23 MM

Overall Project Management and Lead Design Firm for Preliminary and Detailed Design. Partnered with civil, architectural, structural, and cost estimating firms.

Scope: Design central facility to support future expansion requirements of site utilities. 

  • Provided MEP expertise for Master Plan development.
  • Design incorporates all mechanical utilities, including chilled water, compressed air, steam, fire protection, and domestic water under one roof.
  • Design provides for future expandability based on growing campus demands.
  • Dual fuel-use boilers to realize energy savings

Client: HOSPIRA - Clayton, NC

Project: Chilled Water Systems Upgrade

Estimated Construction Cost: $1 MM

Aside from serving as Overall Project Management and Lead Design Firm, Hipp provided on-site support to facilitate installation.  

Scope: Replace 300-T liquid chiller with 650-T unit in existing mechanical room to provide for both new and future chilled water demands. Replace all primary piping and pumping systems to correct hydronic flow problems. Project unfolded in two phases to minimize chilled water shutdown periods.

  • Low Head Room and Large Diameter Piping
  • Temporary Chilled Water System Utilized
  • Phase I installation completed under compressed schedule (24/7). Hipp provided on-site support to facilitate installation.

Client: WYETH - Sanford, NC 

Project: Fuel Storage Tank Addition

Scope: Design 25,000-gallon fuel oil storage tank, complete with truck unloading station. Include containment dike sized for freeboard tank capacity volume of 110% and capable of holding second tank of equal size.

  • Recirculation Loop to boilers in C.U.B.
  • Double Containment Supply Line to Back-up Generator Day Tanks
  • Water Cannon Placement within 100 feet of dike
